known traveller of the Silk Road.
Marco Polo is a european gone to the China Middle Empire, from where he came back after a
24 (twenty-four) years trip !

Normally, it was initially a trip for opening a door to the East for making business.
Marco Polo crossed territories as Armenia, Persia, India or Asia.
But he went more far than anyone in Mongolia and China. He knew the mogolian emperor
Kublai Khan and became an important people with important functions.
And when he came back home, he told the story of his fabulous adventures
in a book named "Le livre des Merveilles".

Remark
As any explorer, Marco Polo discovered new civilizations.
As any explorer who discovered new civilizations, he did not discover anything
moreover than what others had found before him.
Indeed, he discovered civilizations on unexplored territories of Europeans,
but then, these civilizations had preceded it. He discovered nothing but
brought back to the Occident what he saw and filled with wonder.
